Discover Cambodia from three
different perspectives. Through
the awe-inspiring Angkor
temples, the faded colonial
ambience of Phnom Penh and
the natural delights of Kampot.
Day 1: Siem Reap
We’ll meet you at the airport and
take you to your hotel where you
can freshen up before starting your
exploration of Angkor. Your first stop is
the famous Angkor Wat. Believed to be
built by the gods and not man, it is a
magnificent example of Khmer art and
architecture. We finish with a climb up
Phnom Bakheng to watch the temple
glow in the setting sun. (D)
Day 2: Siem Reap
This morning we head to one of Angkor’s
most popular temples, Bayon, with
its enormous, imposing faces, then
onto the grandeur of the Leper King
and Elephant Terraces. The afternoon
is spent at the beautifully-preserved
Banteay Srei, before heading back
to Siem Reap and a well-deserved
traditional foot massage. (B/D)
Day 3: Siem Reap
This morning an ox cart takes you to
the arresting sight of Ta Prohm, where
large silk-cotton and fig tree roots have
become one with the temple itself.
For a change of pace, the afternoon is
spent cruising Tonle Sap, with its many
floating fishing villages. Back in Siem
Reap you’ll have a chance to see local
artisans at work, creating carvings, silks
and many exquisite local crafts. (B/D)
Day 4: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh
After a morning flight to the capital,
we’ll get you settled into your hotel
in Phnom Penh before taking to the
streets of this fascinating city. Before
arriving at the National Museum, we’ll
stop at the Royal Palace to see the
treasures of the Silver Pagoda, with its
stunning silver floor tiles. (B/D)
Day 5: Phnom Penh
After breakfast, we visit Tuol Sleng,
a former prison of the Khmer Rouge
and now a memorial to this dark period.
Then you’re free to bargain at the
Russian market, with its silks, silver and
crafts. This afternoon we visit Cheoung
Ek, a memorial and museum to the
Killing Fields before moving onto lovely
Wat Phnom, the city’s most important
temple. A leisurely sunset cruise
concludes our day of contrasts. (B/D)
Day 6: Phnom Penh - Kep
After breakfast we drive to the tranquil
river town of Kampot and a zoo that
shelters some of the most endangered
animals - elephants, sun bears and
tigers. If it’s in season, we’ll also visit
a durian plantation. One of the most
revered fruits, its smell is also revered
for all the wrong reasons. Then it’s onto
our hotel in unspoilt Kep, overlooking
the sea. (B/D)
Day 7: Kampot - Kep
We return to Kampot to take in the
architecture of two histories - former
French-colonial homes and original
Khmer wooden houses. We also visit
the pre-Angkor cave temple of Phnom
Chhngouk, with its carved formations
of crocodiles, elephants and eagle
before returning to our relaxing hotel
at Kep. (B/D)
Day 8: Kampot - Phnom Penh
After breakfast we’ll start our journey
back to Phnom Penh and the airport.
On the way, we’ll visit one of the
plantations in Kampot that grows
the pepper for which this area is
renowned. An invigorating experience
for the senses. (B)
