One of Asia’s best kept secrets, Laos’ slow pace, smiling hospitality and streets lined with ancient temples and echoes of the past is endlessly fascinating.

Day 1: Vientiane
We'll meet you and take you to your hotel before hitting the town. Wonder at thousands of miniature Buddhas in the oldest temple, Wat Sisaket, the stunning golden stupas of sacred Wat Pha That Luang and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo. We also visit Patuxai, Laos' own Arc de Triomphe. You're then free until inner and a traditional Laos dance performance. (D)

Day 2: Vientiane – Luang Prabang
We fly to magical Luang Prabang and start exploring the town's beautiful wats, including Wat Visoun, before climbing the stairs to the top of Mount Phousi to watch the sun set over the Mekong. We hit the night street market for handicrafts made by local and hilltribe people before dinner. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Luang Prabang
Admire the town's oldest temple, Wat Sene, and the classical Laos architecture of Wat Xieng Thong. Then it's a short boat ride to the wondrous sight of hundreds of miniature Buddha statues at the Pak Ou Caves and a stop at a rice-wine making village. Later we drive to the village of Ban Phanom, known for its silk weaving. The evening's free and the local food delicious, so enjoy. (B/L)

Day 4: Luang Prabang
If you're up at dawn step out to see the daily ritual of saffron-robed monks receiving alms from the locals. After breakfast we visit the museum in the former Royal Palace, then bargain for the rare and unusual at the Phousi Market. There's some free time before we take you to the airport for your afternoon fl ight. (B)
